Death Ray Robin is an Alt-R&B act featuring vocalist Desirée Richardson and a rotating cast of
instrumentalists from Columbia, SC. Best known for her mellifluous soprano and straightforward
yet poetic pop sensibilities, Richardson vacillates between genres, writing about themes of
self-love, identity, revenge, forgiveness, and hope. Influenced by Regina Spektor and My
Chemical Romance, Richardson’s flow from ethereal chorister to earth-shattering banshee is
spellbinding experience best witnessed in-person. Being that she was a choir girl, an avid
listener of pop and R&B, and an inconsolable teen in 2007, it’s not hard to understand why
Richardson so comfortably stands between the worlds of “legit” singing and primal screams.
